About Therapy

Relational base

The majority of approaches used in therapy are based on the relationship between you and your therapist. By establishing a healthy, trusting relationship we are able to work together on any challenges, emotions and relationships outside of the therapy room.

Relationships underpin almost every area of life including how we feel about ourselves, others and the world.

Integrating

My training is in Counselling Psychology, which is similar to Clinical Psychology, but with a greater emphasis on interpersonal relationships, emotion and wellbeing rather than diagnosis and psychopathology.

The training for Counselling Psychology covers a range of approaches including CBT which means I am able to integrate different models of therapy to meet the needs of the child or adult I’m working with.

Creativity

Creativity can be used in therapy to unlock thoughts and feelings that can otherwise be hard to express and understand. It is not about being good at art, it’s all about the process of creating as a form of expression.

Children and those who have experienced trauma early in life, may not have explicit memories that can be verbalised, so art/creativity can act as a form of communication to allow them to process emotions non-verbally.
